Our topic is: Embodiment in Orff Schulwerk: the role of movement in learning and listening with and through the body.
In 1932, Carl Orff wrote: “Music begins inside human beings…The starting point is one’s own stillness, listening to oneself, the ‘being ready for music’, listening to one’s own heart-beat and breathing”. This Resonances event is guided by these words and features two theory + practice presentations.
One session will identify neuroscience research that looks at the role of movement in learning, how the brain learns best and what this means for music and movement teachers.
The second session asks what it would mean to fully embrace listening with and through the body. The presenter will center the potentials for listening as embodied and multimodal, thus inviting a listening that expands awareness into a vibrational realm shared by both the practices of movement/dance and sound/music.
This Resonances meeting will be offered only once. A recording with our two live presenters will be posted on the Forum website.
