Course Description:
The Orff Schulwerk Teacher Certification courses immerse participants in the Orff approach to teaching music. Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman devised this approach to develop musical qualities inherent in all people through an active and creative learning process. It applies to all areas of music education, including early childhood, primary, secondary, tertiary, studio, therapy, or special education. Participants in the certification courses experience first-hand this way of learning and teaching, using the skills and techniques specific to the Orff approach.
Levels 1 & 2 will include studies in Movement and Dance, Orchestration and Analysis, Technique and Improvisation, Recorder, Vocal Studies, and Pedagogy. Level 1 participants require a descant recorder. Basic knowledge of music notation is required for this course. Level 2 participants need to have both Book 2 & 3 Music for Children and a treble recorder.
